How we use cookies, and how to control them.
This policy explains how Propdart uses cookies and similar technologies — pixels, tags and web beacons — when you visit our website, mobile site and applications. It covers what we set, why we set it, who else has access, and how you can change your preferences at any time.

What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your computer, smartphone or tablet when you visit a website. They are widely used to make sites work more efficiently, recognise your device across sessions, and give the people who run the site data to improve the experience.
We use two kinds. Session cookies are temporary and are deleted automatically when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain on your device for a specified period or until you manually delete them.
Other tracking technologies we use
Alongside cookies, we and our partners use other technologies that work in a similar way. Where we refer to "cookies" in this policy, we generally mean cookies and these related technologies together:
- Pixels, tags & web beacons — tiny, often invisible images or snippets of code embedded in pages and emails that tell us whether content was viewed or a link was clicked.
- Local & session storage — small amounts of data stored by your browser (such as
localStorage) to remember your settings and keep the app responsive. - Software development kits (SDKs) — code embedded in our mobile apps that performs functions similar to cookies on the web.
- Mobile advertising identifiers — device identifiers such as the Google Advertising ID (GAID) and Apple's Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), used only with your permission for measurement and advertising.
- Server logs & device data — information your device sends automatically, such as IP address, browser type, operating system and referring pages.
How we use cookies on Propdart
We use cookies and similar technologies (pixels, tags and web beacons) on our website, mobile site and applications (collectively, the "Services") to keep you signed in, remember your search preferences, measure how the site performs, and — only with your consent — show you relevant Propdart advertising elsewhere on the internet.
By continuing to browse Propdart you agree to our use of cookies as set out below. You can change your choices at any time from the cookie preferences link in our footer.
The categories we set
The cookies on our platform fall into four categories. Strictly necessary cookies are always on; the others are controlled by your preferences.
- Strictly necessary. Required for the platform to work securely. Keep you signed in to your buyer, owner or agent account; remember your saved properties and shortlists as you move between pages; and retain your filter selections (budget, BHK, locality) within a session.
- Functionality & preference. Remember the choices you make so the experience feels personal. Default the city to your last location, hold the values you enter into the mortgage and valuation tools, and keep your theme, language and currency settings.
- Performance & analytics. Collect anonymous, aggregated data on how visitors interact with listings — page views, bounce rates, search terms, navigation friction — so we can fix bugs, speed pages up, and understand which neighbourhoods and property types are trending. We use Google Analytics and similar tooling for this.
- Targeting & advertising. Only set when you opt in. Used by us and our advertising partners to show relevant property recommendations based on what you have viewed, limit how often you see the same ad, and retarget you on platforms such as Google, Facebook and Instagram after you leave the site.
How long cookies last
How long a cookie stays on your device depends on whether it is a "session" or a "persistent" cookie, and on its purpose:
- Session cookies last only for your current visit and are deleted when you close your browser.
- Persistent cookies remain until they expire or until you delete them. As a guide, strictly necessary and preference cookies typically last up to 12 months, analytics cookies up to 24 months, and advertising cookies for shorter, purpose-specific periods.
We retain the information collected through cookies only for as long as is necessary for the purposes described in this policy, after which it is deleted or anonymised. The exact duration for each cookie is listed in our cookie preference center.
Third-party infrastructure
Some features on Propdart depend on trusted third-party services. These providers may also place cookies on your device, governed by their own policies:
- Maps (Google Maps, Mapbox). To plot property locations, schools, amenities and neighbourhood boundaries.
- Chat & communication (WhatsApp, Intercom). To let you reach brokers, landlords and our support team without leaving the page.
- Security (Cloudflare). To protect our listings and database from scrapers, malicious traffic and denial-of-service attacks.
- Payments & embedded media. Payment widgets, videos and other embedded content may set their own cookies. We list the active third parties in our cookie preference center.
International data transfers
Some of the third parties that set cookies on our Services — including analytics, advertising, mapping and security providers — are located outside India and may process the information collected through cookies in other countries, whose data-protection laws may differ from your own.
Where such transfers take place, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled securely and in accordance with applicable law and our Privacy Policy, including appropriate contractual safeguards with those providers.
Your consent & how to withdraw it
When you first visit Propdart we ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies, through a clearly visible cookie banner. Strictly necessary cookies do not require consent because the Services cannot function without them. You can accept all, reject all, or choose specific categories.
Withdrawing consent. You may change or withdraw your consent at any time — as easily as you gave it — using the cookie-preferences link in our footer, or by deleting cookies through your browser. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew.
Do Not Track & Global Privacy Control. Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. Because there is no common industry standard for DNT, we respond to these signals where required by applicable law and otherwise rely on the choices you make through our cookie banner and browser settings.
Managing your preferences
You decide whether to accept or reject non-essential cookies. The cookie consent banner appears on your first visit and is available again at any time from the link in our footer.
You can also block or delete cookies entirely through your browser settings. See the official guides for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari and Microsoft Edge.
A note on the trade-off: if you disable all cookies, some parts of Propdart — interactive maps, saved-search alerts, owner and agent login portals — will not work properly.
