UP-RERA issues a notice on project-registration extensions
An official notice addresses registration validity and completion timelines. Check the order and the individual project record for applicability.
UP-RERA published a notice on 21 August 2026 concerning the validity of project registrations and corresponding completion timelines. For a Greater Noida buyer, the important question is not simply whether an extension was announced, but whether and how it applies to the exact registered phase of their home.
A revised regulatory timeline should be read alongside the buyer agreement, the project record and any relevant orders. A general announcement alone is not enough to decide an individual dispute or calculate a remedy.
Identify the right project record
Large developments may contain more than one registered phase. Match the registration number in the agreement with the tower and phase being purchased. Keep a dated copy of the registration information and any extension order so that an older brochure does not become the only record of the original timeline.
Separate paperwork from construction progress
An extended validity period is not evidence that a home is ready for occupation. Review construction updates, the status of essential services and applicable completion or occupancy documents separately. Site progress, contractual obligations and regulatory dates answer different questions.
Keep a usable record
- Retain the signed agreement and payment schedule.
- Record the original and revised dates with their supporting documents.
- Save written explanations received from the promoter.
- Seek case-specific advice before accepting a settlement or waiving a claim.
The bottom line
Verify the extension against the correct phase and obtain advice on its effect on your own agreement. Do not infer that all buyer rights change automatically.
